Sangkhlaburi district, a border of Thailand – Myanmar, is located 215 kilometers away from Kanchanaburi’s town. Sangkhlaburi is the city of fertility and the various cultures, which combined Thai, Karen, Mon, Laos and Myanmar villagers together. It is surrounded by plants and mountains, which the location is called “Sam Pra Sob” or Three Suffering due to the confluence of the Beekly, Rantee and Song Kalia rivers. Those rivers have become the vital river of Mons in both countries.
Mon Bridge
Song Kalia River means “On the other side” because it divides Sakhlaburi. The district part is where most Thais and tourists live in, but on the other side, it is a Mon community. Sa Phan Mai Uttamanusorn or Mon Bridge was built for all villagers to connect one another. Moreover, it is Thailand’s longest wooden bridge with the length of 850 meters and made by the mind center of Mon, Luang Phor Uttama. The relationships among those three nationalities create a reputation which attracts tourists.

Due to a beautiful sight of the lake, the bridge can attract a lot of tourists and become the symbol of Sangkhlaburi. Walking on the bridge in an early morning, you can see the real Thais-Mons lifestyles and activities like making a merit. The Mon Bridge had been renovated several times. For the last time, it was damaged by flooding in 2557, BE. However, the bridge was restored to be as beautiful as the original one. The tourists can visit here and join a boat tour for free.
