Wat Pha Tang

           Wat Pha Tang is unknown the truly constructed year. It was located nearby the village entrance. Currently, Baan Pha Tang (The village) becomes a center of historic pattern homespun. Due to a small and floodable area, the temple was moved to Hauy Haeng, Baan Rai, Uthai Thani province in 2471 BE. The reputation of Wat Pha Tang is about a magnificent Luang Phor To image, which is the biggest monk image in Uthai Tani.

           When you step in the temple, you will see the nagas on both sides of the entrance stairs. If you literary notice them, you will find Maraka, an animal of the heavenly forest Himmaphan, swallowing the nagas. These are one of the unique and unseen arts in the north of Thailand.


An Magnificent Luang Phor To image

           After going up, you are going to see a huge image of Luang Phor To with the height of 52 meters and the weight of 23 meters. This image is one of the biggest in Thailand, which had been built in 2532-2540 BE by Luang Phor To’s follower and local people. For the multipurpose building under the image, the several types of monk images have enshrined inside for doing a sacred worship and a meditation for tourists.

           Now, Wat Pha Tang invites all Buddhists to donate money for Luang Phor To image’s renovation. Due to cracking and color’s peeling off, the temple needs a donation to re-paint the whole image to make it beautiful.
